YourBeanstalk’s Opinion: Police departments often completely pay for, or help with, the cost of attending classes to further your education in criminal justice, police science, etc. This makes it easy for women to get more education, earn more pay and move up in the department. Police work isn’t for everyone, as it can require you be in excellent physical shape, work well in stressful situations and be willing to take necessary actions. It is also a very dangerous line of work. For this reason, it may not be a good fit for a single mom or working mother.
